The Madeira School is seeking a skilled and experienced Physics Teacher starting in August 2022. The position involves teaching Upper School physics classes using student-centered methodologies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching classes, serving as an advisor, and participating in residential life and school activities. A desire to collaborate with colleagues and a commitment to encouraging the potential in every student is essential.
Our Math and Science Departments:
- Believe all students can learn math and physics on a deep level
- Emphasize critical thinking and constructing viable arguments
- Incorporate application and modeling to give math context
- Balance reasoning and conceptual understanding with computation and symbolic fluency
- Put the students at the center of the learning
- Organize units and gradebooks with a multiple standards-based grading approach
- Incorporate technology, such as Desmos Activity Builder, into lessons

- Holds a degree in physics or a related field
- Has taught at the secondary level

- Understands the foundational principles of computer coding
