The Differentiated Learning Specialist supports differentiated instruction practices and programs and reports to the Director of Studies. The Differentiated Learning Specialist collaborates with the Division Directors, Department Chairs, and Faculty to ensure the practice of differentiation is occurring in all classrooms. The Differentiated Learning Specialist focuses on research-informed, student-focused instruction, and works with teachers on ensuring that all students are adequately challenged. Whenever relevant, the Differentiated Learning Specialist works with teachers on developing specific enrichment lessons and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with teachers to help research, plan, model, and implement effective differentiated instruction strategies; co-teach when appropriate
Research, develop, and provide resources to teachers to support differentiation practices and strategies
Provide support for gifted and twice-exceptional students
Provide enrichment services to students working on independent study projects (a.k.a. Type III Enrichment Support), as relevant
Be a team member of the Student Support Team (SST)
Contribute to the planning of club time to introduce and oversee programs.
Collaborate with the Educational Technology Coordinator to research and implement the use of tools and learning systems beneficial to students and faculty in matters of differentiation and enrichment
Build teachers’ and students’ confidence and self-esteem in practicing differentiation
Evaluate and assess individual students’ skills, when necessary, for enrichment opportunities.
Lead in-house professional development
Teach 1-2 classes
Support the unit school concept through participation in cross-divisional faculty and student-based activities.
Actively participates in curriculum review and development process.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
5 years of teaching experience
Proven experience successfully implementing differentiation practices in a classroom setting
Experience in curriculum development and evaluation of the effectiveness of educational programs
Ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively
