Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time 6th grade teacher for the 2021-2022 school year for its Middle School division. The successful candidate will have teaching experience, preferably in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate must understand the age group, be able to work cooperatively with other teachers, be excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds and be competent in language arts, mathematics and social studies instruction. Also required is a genuine appreciation for the Quaker philosophy that underlies the school. The candidate will also be expected to teach an advisory program and maintain thorough communication with parents. The most desirable candidate will also be able to demonstrate proficiency using digital and online platforms for remote instruction as well as proven effectiveness as a classroom teacher in a brick-and-mortar setting. Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree (an advanced degree is preferred).
