St. Anselm's Abbey School (a Benedictine private school for boys in DC) is currently seeking a full-time teacher to teach high-school Spanish. Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction according to curriculum framework (Spanish classes Levels 1-4), conducting and organizing on-going assessments of student performance using multiple assessment tools including standardized tests, performance assessments, informal assessments, and homework, and project assessments as appropriate, and supporting extracurricular programs. Please note that we do not offer work visas for foreign nationals.
Strong Spanish language skills (Advanced-Low or higher on the ACTFL scale or equivalent)
Knowledge of French highly desirable
Experience developing curricula and willingness to create new classroom materials
Ability to implement a proficiency-focused pedagogical framework in a student-centered classroom
Enthusiastic about working with students at a high-school level.
Commitment to professional development

Ability to observe and discuss student progress
Willingness to provide extra help to students who need it

About St. Anselm's Abbey School
St. Anselm's Abbey School is an independent, Catholic, Benedictine school serving academically motivated young men in grades 6 through 12. Founded in 1942 by Benedictine monks, the school is located on the 40-acre grounds of St. Anselm's Abbey in Northeast Washington. St. Anselm's serves approximately 260 students and employs roughly 50 faculty and staff.
